Border BioBlitz
Be a part of this border-long, one-day event documenting the stunning biological diversity of our borderlands. The Border BioBlitz is a one-day communal citizen-science effort to record as many species as possible on each side of the U.S.-Mexico border. Join as part of the San Diego team - one of several teams on both sides of the border from Tijuana to Texas. All you need is a love for the outdoors and a smartphone.
Add the iNaturalist app to your phone and join the Border BioBlitz team! (free for Android and iOS). Visit the iNaturalist page here.
CLOSED-TOE SHOES/BOOTS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. Pants and long-sleeved shirts are highly recommended. Be sure to bring your fully charged smartphone, enough water, lunch and sun protection.
This is an outdoor event in natural areas. Individuals may hike as little or as much as they feel physically comfortable. There are easy trails close to the visitor center with easy access.
We will meet at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center in Imperial Beach at 8:00 am for an on-site training and orientation and will mobilize smaller groups form there. You MUST attend the orientation and sign a liability waiver to participate.
You can find more informational about the event nationally here and locally here.
