Sort and Distribute Basic Necessities with Hugs & Bags
Hugs & Bags is a monthly event that creates an opportunity for people to unite and help their fellow neighbors, and distributes meals and necessities to homeless and low-income communites. In addition to the distribution, there are often cosmetology students giving haircuts and a DJ playing music to keep everyone feeling upbeat.
Volunteers activities include: sorting donations, setting up distribution stations, and distributing basic necessities such as toiletries, clothes, haircuts, meals, school supplies, backpacks, and other resources.
Project Requirements & Important Notes

Attire: Outside. Recommend comfortable clothing (e.g., jeans, t-shirt, hat, and tennis shoes).

Bring: Sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. There is no place to store belongings so keep valuables at home.

Religious Observance: Any prayer or religious observance during the project is optional, volunteers are welcome to opt out.

Hugs & Bags operates primarily from downtown San Diego but is working to establish and maintain a presence throughout the San Diego County area. Hugs & Bags, a non-denominational organization, is fully supported by volunteers and sponsored by the founder along with generous donations from the public.
