Play Ball for Include Autism

Play Ball provides an inclusive baseball experience to youth diagnosed with autism guided by their typically developing peers, offering opportunities to raise autism awareness and build friendship experiences throughout northern San Diego County through America's favorite pastime.

Teen volunteers will be paired with an athlete in the game, in order to create positive peer to peer interactions. Adults are welcome to participate as well. Some of the adult roles, if not paired with an athlete, include coaching kids and teens of varying skill level how to play the game, demonstrate sportsmanship and teamwork, and promote physical fitness. Volunteers can also assist with the facilitation of the game and snack bar. The two teams are the Thunder Pandas and Smokey Cats.

Project Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Volunteers must wear comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes if they are going to play.

• Waiver: First time volunteers must also print out and sign the Include Autism Volunteer Waiver

• Note: This project is teen-friendly and only teens are paired with the kids. Adults are not excluded and are allowed to register, but can only help with any potential set-up and to cheer on the game.
