President's Volunteer Service Award
The President's Volunteer Service Award is the premier volunteer awards program, encouraging United States citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States through presidential recognition to live a life of service.
Any individual, family, or group can receive Presidential recognition for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime at home or abroad. The following are the eligibility requirements for each age group:
|Hours by Award||Bronze||Silver||Gold|
|Kids (5-10)||26-49 hours||50-74 hours||75+ hours|
|Teens (11-15)||50-74 hours||75-99 hours||100+ hours|
|Young Adults (16-25)||100-174 hours||175-249 hours||250+ hours|
|Adults (26 and older)||100-249 hours||250-499 hours||500+ hours|
|Family & Groups||200-499 hours||500-999 hours||1,000+ hours|
The complete package includes a certificate, pin, and a congratulatory letter from the President.
Hours obtained through a HandsOn San Diego managed project are verified by the HandsOn San Diego Volunteer Leader.
For hours completed outside of a HandsOn San Diego managed project, hours need to be signed-off by a representative of the benefiting organization. With proof, HandsOn San Diego can include these hours in your PSVA application. Because the cost of the award comes out of our budget, we are only able to certify hours for San Diego County residents or hours served in San Diego County.
