Mission Valley

The McGrath Family JA BizTown is a 10,000 sq. foot mini-city in which kids discover how the "real world" works. Each day, about 150 5th graders become JA BizTown "citizens," where they work in one of 21 businesses, make personal financial decisions as well as for their business, hold business meetings, pay taxes and donate to charity. Volunteers will be stationed in each shop; helping the students carry-on the day, stay on task and keep track of time (breaks etc.) The time commitment includes a one-hour training during the morning of the students JA BizTown scheduled date.

Rancho Peñasquitos
Teen volunteers will be paired with an athlete in the game, in order to create positive peer to peer interactions. Adults are welcome to participate as well. Some of the adult roles, if not paired with an athlete, include coaching kids and teens of varying skill level how to play the game, demonstrate sportsmanship and teamwork, and promote physical fitness. Volunteers can also assist with the facilitation of the game and snack bar. The two teams are the Thunder Pandas and Smokey Cats.

University City Community Cleanup with Councilmember Barbara Bry

Join ILACSD as we team up with Councilmember Barbara Bry for a community cleanup on Saturday, April 14th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Doyle Park in University City located at 8175 Regents Road, San Diego, CA 92122. We will be removing litter and debris from the park and stenciling storm drains around the area with a pollution prevention message!
