Education Support: Composting at Schools
Solana Center's science-based school programs inspire and empower students to live sustainably, to reduce and rethink waste, and to become change-makers on their campuses and in their communities. Their presentations primarily take place at underserved schools.
At the Solana Center's school programs, volunteers help them engage their students through interactive composting demonstrations (sometimes handling live worms!), teach sustainable practices that support a healthy planet, and inspire students to adopt sustainable practices in their own lives.
Volunteers help set up the demo site, support the educator through advancing slides or the flip chart, engage students, and break down the demo site. Volunteers may answer questions related to the presentation topic if they are comfortable doing so.
