ECO: Silver Strand State Beach Plant Removal
Help pull and remove invasive iceplant (Carpobrotus) and other invasive species to enhance coastal strand habitat on the Silver Strand State Beach bayside! Volunteers will use hand tools to complete this work. Iceplant covered much of the bayside until the mid-2000’s when a removal effort began and native plants flourished where the iceplant once dominated. Today, the effort continues to remove invasive weeds to make space for beach evening-primrose and other native dune plants to grow.
Volunteers that are 12 and older are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver by their guardian. Lunch will be provided.

Attire: This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.

Physical Requirements: Unfortunately, this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where this project takes place is not wheelchair accessible.
