Sophia Garofalo

Sophia is a first-year student at the University of San Diego studying Business Management and a College Corps Fellow. Through College Corps, she has had the opportunity to serve throughout the San Diego community, participating in beach cleanups, projects in Balboa Park, and volunteering with Sharia’s Closet. She is excited to continue growing her involvement in the community through her role as a Volunteer Recruitment Fellow at HandsOn San Diego.

Before moving to San Diego, Sophia gained experience in nonprofit and community engagement through her work with the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce. During her time with the Chamber, she supported local businesses, community events, membership outreach, and marketing initiatives. She also worked as a marketing intern with Skin Apeel Beauty Bar, where she created promotional materials and helped promote a local small business.

Sophia’s experiences have sparked a passion for bringing people together, supporting local organizations, and finding meaningful ways to give back. She is excited to connect volunteers with opportunities that allow them to make a positive impact in the San Diego community and looks forward to continuing to grow through her work with HandsOn San Diego.
