If you're comfortable, healthy, and not in an at-risk group, there are local organizations with urgent volunteer needs that could use your help. Please review our safety guidelines before attending projects in-person. Here are the projects you can sign up with through HandsOn San Diego:

  • ElderHelp of San Diego

    • Get started by attending an online orientation so you can support seniors with deliveries of groceries and other essential items, and/or providing medically necessary transportation.

  • Interfaith Community Services

    • Volunteers are needed to assemble sack lunches, help at their drive-up food distribution, repackage bulk items, deliver meals, and more.

  • It's All About the Kids Foundation

Serving/Cooking Meals

  • Jewish Family Service of San Diego

    • Volunteers are needed to prepare home-delivered meals for older adults in the JFS Loonin Family Kitchen. As community need grows, they have increased their production of nutritious, home-delivered meals from 400 to 1,600 a day. Commercial Kitchen experience is a plus but not mandatory to volunteer.

  • Kitchens for Good

    • To support growing meal production, Kitchens for Good is accepting volunteers again for shifts Monday-Friday 2pm-5pm. Volunteers will assist with packaging and labeling of hunger relief meals. In compliance with CDC recommendations, all volunteers must have a current California Food Handler's Card. Sign up here
