Welcome to the San Diego COVID-19 Volunteer Hub, a partnership of HandsOn San Diego and United Way of San Diego County! Thank you for supporting the thousands of local families who have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

As we all try to adjust to life under these unprecedented circumstances, we recognize that our community is facing challenges that we have never experienced before. For those whose health has been compromised, the frontline workers putting their lives on the line, those who have lost their income, and families who are struggling to make ends meet, charitable organizations often provide the only safety net they have. Nonprofits would not be able to provide these important services without support from community volunteers - that’s where you come in!

We have designed The Hub to be a “one-stop-shop” where San Diegans can find ways to help other San Diegans get through this crisis together. Among the MANY opportunities to help, you will find ways to: donate in-kind goods, roll up your sleeves and volunteer in-person, help from the comfort of your own home, and lend your professional skills to organizations in need.

  • Community members: Take a look at all the options and ways to serve. We hope you find something that fits your skills and interests
  • Nonprofit partners: If you would like to list your volunteer opportunities on this site, please email volunteerhub@uwsd.org
  • Corporate partners: Let us know how we can support with your CSR strategy or if you have ideas for meaningful engagement opportunities and volunteer projects for your employees. Email volunteerhub@uwsd.org and we will help you find a way to get involved.

Volunteer In-Person

If you're comfortable, healthy, and not in an at-risk group, there are local organizations with urgent volunteer needs that could use your help.

Volunteer From Home

You can make a meaningful impact volunteering virtually from the comfort and safety of your home. You can provide admin support to nonprofits, tutor kids online, and more.

Donate Items

Many nonprofit organizations have ramped up operations considerably to meet the increased demand for their services. Consider making an in-kind donation to help restock their depleted supplies.

Donate Blood

Due to many blood drive cancellations, there is an urgent need for blood donations. Consider donating to the San Diego Blood Bank or American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties.
