VIRTUAL: Alzheimer's Association Community Educator



Virtual Community Educators are volunteer speakers who help provide education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs. Community Educators deliver Alzheimer's Association programs virtually on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias using prepared materials.


Project Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver prepared Alzheimer’s Association education programs virtually using approved materials

  • Present on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, and support resources

  • Connect caregivers, individuals living with dementia, and the general public to Alzheimer’s Association programs and the free 24/7 Helpline

  • Collaborate with Association staff to ensure programs are delivered effectively and professionally

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Comfortable using Zoom or similar virtual meeting platforms

  • Strong communication and public speaking skills

  • Interest in public health, education, caregiving or community outreach

  • Bilingual skills are highly valued but not required

Onboarding Process: If you are interested, apply here. After expressing interest, the Alzheimer's Association will call you for an interview and provide online and self-study materials to support your learning in this volunteer role. Background checks are required as part of the volunteer selection process. Your reward will be enhancing your knowledge of this cause, perfecting your public speaking techniques, and knowing that you serve your local community and the people you care about.

Time Commitment: Deliver approximately 6 presentations in the first year (and 12 annually thereafter) using prepared Alzheimer’s Association consumer education programs on a variety of care and support topics. Weekdays/daytime availability are required. Virtual Community Educators serve 2-4 hours per month. 

Attire: For virtual presentations the volunteer would need to be dressed appropriately and professionally from the waist up at the minimum in addition to being well-groomed and presentable. We will provide you with an Alzheimer’s Association branded shirt to wear, if desired. Wearing purple is a plus!
