HELP OUT: Basic Needs Distribution Event

Home Start has worked with the Diamond Education Excellence Partnership (D.E.E.P) to select schools within San Diego Unified School District's central region with students that could use additional support. Their drive through distribution provides items such as fuel cards, food cards, children's books, diapers, and more for Home Start clients and families in need. 

Volunteers are responsible for managing traffic and assisting with the completion of client questionnaires and paperwork. Duties may include checking in clients, confirming information, and distributing basic needs items to cars. 

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for physical activity. Modest casual clothing, such as a t-shirt and jeans, would be appropriate. Please avoid clothing with suggestive or derogatory messaging.

• Physical Requirements: Volunteers may be asked to lift and carry up to 15 pounds at a time. The role also includes bending, twisting, and lifting supplies into client vehicles, as well as prolonged standing and walking.

• ​Photos: Photos cannot be taken of clients or any identifying data. 

• ​Waiver: Please print and fill out Home Start's volunteer application before attending. If you can't fill out the application beforehand, copies will be available at the project.
