After School Tutoring in Del Mar

Power Hour is an academic support program designed to help members develop academic, behavioral, and social skills through homework completion, high-yield learning activities, and tutoring that encourages Club members of every age to become self-directed learners.


Project Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with homework in math, English, science, or other subjects

  • Lead learning-based games and enrichment activities

  • Encourage positive study habits and model appropriate behavior

  • Foster a supportive and welcoming learning environment

  • Help track student progress and communicate with staff when needed

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience with subject matter (math, English, or science) for age being tutored

  • Volunteers must be 16 years old or older.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience teaching or tutoring, especially math, science and/or English. Spanish speaking.

Time Commitment: 1 hour per week or more between the hours of 2pm-6pm on weekdays, at least once per week. Consistency is important to the kids you are teaching so committing to a schedule is highly encouraged.

Onboarding Process: Application, reference checks, background check, fingerprinting, online training and orientation 

Attire: No inappropriate words printed on clothing, jean and shorts okay, tight or revealing clothing is not allowed, clothes you are okay with getting dirty, closed toed shoes

Physical Requirements: No specific physical abilities are required to participate in this volunteer opportunity.
