Opportunity Details
ECO: Climate Action Day at Colina Del Sol Park
Promote climate equity by volunteering at the Colina Del Sol Recreation Center. Colina Del Sol is a very large, well-used community park located in a neighborhood identified by the City of San Diego as a "community of concern," a census tract in the top 30th percentile of an environmental health assessment, eligible for Community Development Block Grants, and within a half-mile radius of affordable housing.
Colina Del Sol experienced considerable erosion during our recent tropical storm and is still recovering. Volunteers will help clean up displaced soil from the storm and prevent future erosion by planting native plants. Additional tasks may include: removing invasive plant species, gathering branches from trimmed trees, spreading mulch, and painting over or removing graffiti.
