VIRTUAL: Tutor for 2nd-6th Grade

It’s never been a more important time to join the movement to close the education gap—the COVID pandemic widened long-standing disparities and disproportionately affected students furthest from opportunity. Math and Reading, in particular, are critical subjects for grade-level students: falling behind has ripple effects that can impact students’ life trajectory. That's where you come in.

Step Up Tutoring is seeking volunteers to provide virtual 1-on-1 tutoring to 2nd-6th grade students from underserved communities via an online video platform to help build fundamental math and literacy skills and to provide support and encouragement. All tutoring will take place virtually! All you need is a computer and internet access. No prior tutoring experience is needed.


Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

  • Time Commitment: Twice a week for 45 minutes per session for a minimum commitment of 12 weeks.

  • Onboarding Process: Volunteer application, 15-minute virtual interview, complete a background check, and self-paced training modules. The onboarding process takes approximately 3-5 hours.

  • Required: Must reside in the US. Access to the internet and a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone.

  • Desired Skills/Experience: An interest in tutoring and mentoring young children Able to navigate online video software.

  • Physical Requirements: None because this project taks place online. 

  • Attire: Business casual when on video.
