ECO: Day in the EarthLab Garden


EarthLab Climate Action Park is a nature space used daily by elementary, middle, and high school students to learn about the environment and have a safe, inspiring place to complete STEM educational experiences. EarthLab hosts monthly activities for the community to learn about the environment and celebrate student achievements.

Come to the EarthLab Climate Action Park to learn about native and water wise plants and how to care and maintain them. 


Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing areas for plating

  • Weeding and removing invasive plants

  • Helping with on-site projects

Skills & Qualifications:

  • No prior gardening experience required

  • Comfortable working outdoors and using basic gardening tools

  • Ability to follow directions from EarthLab staff or docents

  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a group setting

Training Provided: 

  • On-site training provided at the beginning of the shift

  • Docents or EarthLab staff will guide volunteers through specific tasks

Attire: Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear work pants and a shirt you don't mind getting dirty. Wearing a hat and sunglasses is recommended. This opportunity takes place outdoors with plenty of shade

Bring: Water bottle and gardening gloves. Tools are provided

Physical Requirements: Standing, bending, kneeling, lifting (can accommodate weight limitations), walking on some inclines and on uneven surfaces for the duration of the event. Volunteers with hearing impairments can work closely with a knowledgeable docent for demonstration of activities. The project space is only partially accessible via wheelchair
