FOOD: Food Drive Sorting

Be a part of ending hunger in San Diego and participate in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in cities across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate.

Heaven's Windows is a recipient of the food drive and will need help sorting through the large influx of food donations. Volunteers will sort food items by type and check food for expirations dates, to see if it is properly sealed, and there are no open containers. By supporting this event, you will help Heaven's Windows receive tons of donated food to distribute back into the community. 

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Comfortable, closed-toe shoes, clothes that can get dirty

• ​Bring: Sunglasses and sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen

• Physical Ability: Able to lift up to 20 lbs. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals for physical limitations. The work can be performed sitting down -- a table and chairs are available and the space is wheelchair accessible. 

• Weather: This event will not be cancelled due to rain or inclement weather, it will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be moved inside Heaven's Windows' warehouse.
