HELP OUT: Pack Donations for Flood-Impacted Families

Support households and families impacted by the January 2024 flood in replacing furniture, clothing and household goods so they can return to a safe, sanitary, and secure home. 

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

• Help disaster workers as they transition families back into their repaired homes after the January flood event. 

• Gather "shopping lists" of household goods, furniture, clothing and other items at the Community Recovery Team warehouse and prepare them for delivery.

Skills & Qualifications:

• No prior experience needed

• Volunteers should be comfortable outdoors, friendly, and able to follow instructions

Training Provided: 

• On-site training provided at the beginning of the shift

Attire: Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. This opportunity takes place indoors

Bring: Snacks and water, if needed

Physical Requirements: Volunteers must be able to do some lifting (with the help of others) and stand for the duration of the shift. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. There is ADA access to the building and is wheelchair accessible, but volunteers will need to let them know because it is not the primary entrance to the building

Waiver: Volunteers will be required to sign in and complete a waiver upon arrival

The San Diego Regional Community Recovery Team (RCRT) is a program of San Diego Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (SDVOAD). The Regional Community Recovery Team is a network of nonprofit, government, community and faith-based organizations active in disaster recovery. Collectively, RCRT forms the infrastructure of disaster recovery services for the San Diego region.
