The Famosa Slough is a well established wetland park near the San Diego River. It is a great place to enjoy birding and nature. It is also a valuable community asset.

Interest in environmental conservation and habitat restoration

Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods

Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines

Gardening or native plant knowledge is helpful but not required
Training Provided: On-site training provided at the beginning of the shift.
Attire: Gardening clothes, gloves, and long sleeves. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.
Bring: Bring water
Physical Requirements: Unfortunately, this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where this project takes place is not wheelchair accessible.
Note: There will not be a restroom available at this project space.

The Mission of the Friends of Famosa Slough is to help restore the Slough and to promote public awareness of the importance of wetlands.
