HELP OUT: Oceanside Sunset Market - Information Booth

The Sunset Market is a lively weekly street market held every Thursday evening from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in Downtown Oceanside. Hosted by MainStreet Oceanside, the market spans several blocks along Pier View Way and surrounding streets, bringing together food vendors, local businesses, artisans, and live entertainment in a vibrant community setting.

Each week, thousands of residents and visitors gather to enjoy international street food, shop from local makers, and experience the energy of downtown after dark. The Sunset Market supports small businesses, creates economic opportunity for vendors, and helps activate downtown Oceanside as a welcoming destination for the community.

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

• Greeting visitors and answering general questions

• Assisting with information booths or event check-in

• Helping with vendor coordination or directions

• Supporting setup or breakdown of event materials

• Providing general assistance to staff and guests during the event

• Volunteer roles may vary depending on the needs of the market that evening

Required Skills/Experience: 

• Friendly and enjoys interacting with people

• Reliable and able to show up for scheduled shifts

• Comfortable answering questions and giving basic directions

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week with no minimum commitment. You can sign up for just one shift!

Onboarding Process: Volunteers need to complete a general volunteer application prior to registering for a shift. Once the application is processed, volunteers can register for shifts here.

Physical Requirements: Some bending may be required to unpack/pack up materials at the start and end of a shift. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. Wheelchair users are welcome and there is accessible parking nearby. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible.

Attire: Because the role takes place outdoors in a high-traffic downtown area, volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Be prepared to stand, greet visitors, and answer questions about Downtown Oceanside.
