ECO: Marion Bear Memorial Park Habitat Remediation

Provide much needed habitat maintenance for a newly restored area in Marion Bear Memorial Park. This event will increase the impact of spring plantings by providing water and removing harmful invasive plants from the site.

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

• WILDCOAST will conduct 2 primary activities, watering of newly planted plants, and removal of invasive species, which can steal resources from native plants.

• Volunteers will meet City of San Diego Park Rangers and WILDCOAST staff on-site, be given a brief safety and educational presentation, and then be activated to conduct meaningful restoration activities.

Skills & Qualifications: 

• Ability to work outside in the heat

• Native vs. nonnative plant identification (training provided)

Training Provided: Basic plant identification and field safety. This will be provided at the beginning of the event.

Attire: Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear long pants to protect your legs and clothes that can get dirty. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade, so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.

Bring: Water

Physical Requirements: Bending and ability to work in the heat. Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where this project takes place is not wheelchair accessible.

Waiver: Volunteers are required to complete the WILDCOAST Waiver of Liability form.
